Just a quick question...

I just removed my intake resonator and just wondered if it is neccessary to seal the opening that the resonator fit into?

I don't think it's necessary, I don't have mine covered.
However it could be a different story on an engine with a turbo.

There are many threads with people taking both sides.
I don't think there is a consensus.

I think the only reason to cover the hole is on the off chance that you go through a big puddle or a car wash with an underbody spray while the engine is running.
You might have a chance to suck up water, probably an unlikely event.

Best thing to do is run some piping from that hole, maybe near a fog light or somewhere to get some cold air.

Can't remember if it's before or after the MAF sensor. If it's before not really but you are just sucking in warm air. If it's after then absolutely or your car will run lean and you risk damaging your engine. Bottom line is it's better to seal it off.

It's before maf sensor and you won't be drawing to much cold air as its open to the inner guard no the engine bay. As for sealing it not really nessecary but wouldn't hurt as than the only air going into the air box will be from above the grill.
