Engine shuts off while driving

Hey guys, I own a 2005 2.5i, had it for roughly 6 months and had never had any issues with it. It's at 115,000km with log books updated by previous owner. Roughly 3 weeks ago the engine had suddenly shut off while i was driving and wouldnt turn back on. The engine turns but wont start. I had it towed to mechanics and they said sparks and battery was fine, fuel seemed to be pumping through fine too, so he didnt exactly know what the issue was. He then sprayed some throttle body spray into some hose (i'm a complete noob) and slowly the car started to work.

He told me 60-70% its the fuel pump so i had him replace it as well as giving it a minor service. Car's been running fine for 2-3 weeks except i feel like it idles abit rougher but that could just be me being picky, overly cautious that it'l happen again. Came home from work today and it happened again. Engine stops. Wont start until i spray that throttle bottle into that hose, wait a few mins and then it starts up again, barely.

Wondering if anyone can help me out with what the issue could be, driving like this is very un-enjoyable! Thanks guys

Have you tried buying a subaru upper engine cleaner, then following the instructions on the back?

After that repeat once again with another can.

That may help clean it well enough.

Yea I just tried that but not that much smoke came out of the exhaust like I see peoples done on YouTube =\
So I'm just gonna take it to the shop..

that hose looks like it goes to the top of the intake manifold, odd.

yeah take it to the shop, see what they say.

That's a vacume line, not sure exactly what it's for but my blow off valve's vacume line feeds off it. Start spray would be sucked through on cranking, directly into intake (way more effective and easier, just pop the hose off)

Sounds like something is interupting the fuel flow. I am assuming you've had no check engine lights on the dash, which rules out a lot of sensor woes. IF your fuel pump is functional (maybe the replacement blew? Faulty wiring that made the original fail? Just guessing), and you have tried a full fuel system cleaner, just check all the hoses around the intake, fuel lines, etc are both intact and attached (the vacume lines can slide off very easily), then if you can't see anything I would take it to a shop that can plug a cable into your ECU for a faster/more accurate diagnosis.

Thanks for all your input guys.
The local mechanic said he tested everything but everything seems fine. Had no idea what's the reason so we left it at that.
Then I was referred to another mechanic who did a scan on the car, picked up some error codes that ill post when I get home. He cleared them, and told me to continue driving until it happens again, then come back for another scan and go from there.

So far, drivings been fine.
