Generally yes.

It's the differences in inlet manifolds, engine sensors, etc that can cause hassles.

Which year Impreza EJ25 are you looking at fitting

no specific impreza engine atm but assuming it will be around the 1999 era?, just looking at my options

I called a few places, and they are requesting i find out the amount of cams my car needs?

Its a 1999 Gen 3 liberty RX wagon, i can't seem to find conclusive information into which exact engine would be a direct swap?

1999 Gen3 RX had the 2.5 Litre SOHC engine. (Twin Cam, one cam on each bank)

the earlier Gen2 2.5 RX had DOHC (Quad Cam, two cams on each bank)

Sorry to be a big pain in the butt,

But will a 2005 Subaru Liberty Gen 4 engine fit in a 2000 Gen 3 liberty?

Particularly http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SUBARU-LIBER ... 35c68e1dc4

According to the internet, the Gen 3 Liberty ran a EJ251 and the 2005 4th gen is running EJ252. Are these engines completely interchangeable? The EJ252 i'm looking at doesn't come with accessories so... will it be a pain in the backside to install it into a car that comes stock with a EJ251?

Hey dude, probs best to ask your local suby expert. Which state are you in? Based on your state someone could recommend a workshop that could answer that question for you. The ebay item is in Victoria, and it says pick up only, so I going to have a stab and say you are in Vic (meaning I can't help with Vic workshops as I am in WA).

However, in my PERSONAL non-expert opinion, it will be a pain to get an EJ252 to go into a car that previously had an EJ251. They made quite a few changes from 251 to 252 (eg electronic throttle).

I'd still say talk to a forum-approved workshop, maybe they can source you a motor from somewhere (or get a new turbo motor! or get a new SOHC motor and supercharge it! or get a H6! or get a V12!!)
