Hi all, was enquiring as to the tuning ability of my gen4 ej25 computer! Was looking at getting it tuned to back up the gains I have had from my exhaust upgrades.

Can an aftermarket computer be piggybacked off it?

There are optios to go to an aftermarket ECU but you are talking $thousands$...it would sadly probably be cheaper/easier to sell your car and go to a model with a Denso ECU.

Its just not worth the money for a tune...maybe is you planned on a full "blown and intercooled" system it could be justified, but even then I think Blademaster would still try to talk you out of it, as he had to spend the time and money on one.

I was going to turbo actually, so no other computers from liberties will plug and play without huge work involved in harnesses etc...

There's also more "do it yourself" work when supercharging. Happy power hunting!!

I'm still confused as to why the Hitachi's and Denso's have different wiring as I can't see it in the service manual. That being said I have identified a few differences in engine bay wiring. Especially a few Hitachi components that are gone with the Denso.

I wish Subaru would get rid of their Hitachi ECU's all together!!! The Denso is so flexible and easy to tune...so so SO many people that want to tune/modify get on these forums and are :angry2: to find out their Hitachi ECU is unsupported.
