Hey guys first post so please tell me if im in the wrong in ayways.

Um currently looking at a Subaru, Liberty Premium Pack AWD 4GEN MY06 just wanted to know what to look for when buying ? I took a nice clean one with only 112000 on the clock today, It felt totally fine pulled a little to the left but nothing major nothing a wheel alignment won't sort.

I only drove it for about 15 mins and when coming back to the dealer and parked up I then started to notice a slight smell like a catalytic converter kinda smell inside/outside the car.

Im going back on monday for a look, when I pull the bonnet up what should I look for ?

Also do the 06 2.5 engines still suffer from head gasket issues ? and how much does that issue cost to get fixed.

Was it a manual? I have a 04 2.5 and never had a overheating problem but it did use a lot of oil before it spun a bearing.

A catalytic converter kinda smell? Was it an acrid odor? were you brutal with the clutch on the test drive?

It was an auto, the test drive was for like 10 mins didn't even get on a highway, the smell was like that eggy smell you sometimes smell from catalytic converters ? Im no expert basically my car for the last 8 years has been a Subaru liberty lx 1990 haha time for an upgrade.
