questions about fuel and acceleration lag

Postby adrianluii » Fri Feb 22, 2013 10:14 am

hey, just recently bought my first car, a 06 liberty 2.5i and i have a few questions.
what fuel would be the most beneficial? the previous owner put in 98 premium, so for the last 1 and a half fills i've put in v-power.
my car has also started experiencing acceleration lag yesterday and though my research i found a thread on this forum addressing the issue in the 2.0l models. just wondering if it is common/normal in the 2.5i models? i'm re-setting the ecu now.

Lag is inherent due to the DBW system. Nothing you can do about it really unless you get a tune.

98 is not really required, but I can't see it hurting. I'd run 95 if I were you, but that's just my opinion.

95 is what I run without any issues.

Sometimes if the car runs a few weeks of work/school trips without any 'fun' I have to reset the ECU. Otherwise I don't have any issues.

See how resetting your ECU goes, failing that try some injector cleaner and UEC.

Acceleration lag is just coz we don't have no torque down low can be fixed with a tune tho like others have said

I run 98 all the time in my car (05 2.5i) never had any problems

I've never reset my ecu ( coz I don't kno how to do it anyways) and I don't think I need to

Is urs an auto or manual?

i run 98 as i believe they are tuned to run that from stock. either way you won't notice the difference in 95 really. i also get acceleration lag but only when I'm giving it the beans around corners (almost like its a carby!).

I noticed the same issue. Mines a 07 Liberty Auto 2.5i.
But the lag is only evident in cold condition as soon as the engine warms up it goes away.
Has anyone taken this issu with the dealer? cause i recon this trans should have an upgraded program.
