Anywho.. I need to source a Clutch Kit for my Lib.. Wondering if there are any reccomendations people may have ? i.e. good price, good quality etc..

Do you just want a replacement clutch or do you want to upgrade to a performance set-up? Best value option is to go with an Exedy Heavy Duty OEM replacement. It will be better than the standard clutch but still drive like normal. This will keep your dual mass flywheel.

Another option is to replace the dual-mass flywheel with a lightened version and the equivalent clutch. People have had varying degrees of success with this from "best to worst thing ever". Do some research on "Liberty Flywheel Conversion.

If you are on a budget and for reliable daily driving I'd go with the Exedy HD OEM replacement option.

I wouldn't go back to a dual mass flywheel if someone paid ME to have it.

I replaced mine with a single mass conversion Subaru kit. Replaced Clutch, converted to a single mass flywheel, new clutch forks, the whole clutch system for $1400 installed. It's a little light for my liking, however it's very smooth, quiet, and there is no more annoying noise when you ride the clutch. It's also a bit 'bitier' than the standard.

Not really in my budget for a conversion.. Only reason im doing this is so because I have too, otherwise wouldnt of touched the clutch.

I'd still recommend doing it once and doing it properly. Dual Mass flywheels are a POS. The Excedy will probably be a cheaper conversion, I only went genuine for warranty and full clutch replacement.

Can someone explain the difference between the dual mass flywheel and single mass.. other than the obvious 'ones dual, ones single' lol.

Noob questions, I know..

Being that I dont really want many performance upgrades will the Dual Mass be fine as an everyday driver..

Basically it's two plates separated by springs to dampen torsional vibration and provide smoother drivetrain operation. The idea was to reduce vibration into the gearbox at low engine speeds. It wasn't a bad idea but it's never really been executed that well. Plates are too thin, springs not robust enough, and they've never really been as reliable as a well balanced solid flywheel. However if it's not broken don't fix it. A replacement HD clutch will cost you roughly half of what it will cost to replace both.

Go single mass exedy clutch. I was on a budget and replaced my dual mass. Much better amd worked out cheaper than OEM.Touch light but all up was $1000 plus install. Also single mass the flywheel can be machined and reused.

The single mass conversion was cheaper than the OEM replacement which was around $1600 from memory

Were was this done ?

I use Aquarious Auto at Rothwell because Dave who owns the place is an ex-Subaru mechanic of 15 years.
It's a bit of a drive for you though, any decent mechanic who knows a bit about Subarus should be able to do it for that price. If you go Excedy it may be cheaper again, but you're not replacing the clutch components, only the clutch and a single mass conversion.
A dual mass replacement was going to cost $1600 + installation, for genuine. Get it checked by a mechanic you trust though, they might tell you you've got about 20,000ks left on your clutch.
