Yep, that's your clutch mate. You are going to need a new clutch plate, get it done soon so you don't do to much damag to your flywheel and have to get that replaced or machined too.
I left mine way too long and ended up having to replace everything.

Yeah. Dual mass flywheels, that's a standard noise.
Do what Jack says, it isn't cheap to replace everything!

So the noise is a common thing but still means i should replace the clutch plate ?

The noise is the clutch plate has worn through the 'grippy bits' - it's just like brake pads, that noise means there is only a small amount of pad left, soon it will start slipping if it hasn't already

Oh you'll know, the car shudders on take off. Also you'll start to nearly stall when you do what youve always done.

To my understanding a way to find out is if you floor it in 4th or 5th and the revs climb but the car doesn't increase speed, the clutch is slipping.

Hmm... Well I'll try and get it done asap. Hopefully replacing the plate isnt too costly :/

It's not the clutch plate it's the dual mass flywheel. And it's fine to keep driving just don't ride or feather the clutch with low revs otherwise you get the noise which is just nuisance factor.
When the clutch plate finally wears out relace the dual mass with a single mass flywheel it is craploads cheaper and feels heaps better.

Ok, so havent been present on the forum for a while, been caught up with alot of stuff at home and work.
I'm finally going to get something done about this clutch / flywheel issue. I've had signs of the clutch slipping as was described.
On another topic people were explain about getting the DMF changed to a single mass and have the clutch replaced all at once.. Supposedly it's more benificial/cheaper for the long term. And now I finally have the cash i'm going to start looking around for somewhere to get the work done.
I live in Laidley (between Toowoomba and Ipswich).. Can anyone reccommend a mechanic who has good knowledge of Subaru's so I can give them a call ? I'm happy to go into Brisbane to get it done

I had mine done by Aquarius Auto/Opposite Lock at Rothwell.
He's an ex Subaru mechanic of 15 years so knows his stuff.
Unfortunately Rothwell is a bit of a drive for you

Well I called Subaru Evolution in Brendale which is almost as far as Rothwell lol.
They quoted $1550 for a full flywheel conversion and replacement cluctch with all the labour and parts needed like forks etc. He said they use a genuine Subaru parts aswell.
I will also try Opposite Lock and ask.

I paid $1403 exactly, genuine Subaru parts with warranty, and everything replaced.
The car was towed in Thursday, I picked it up Friday.
I can't praise Dave more. His number: 3204 1599
