Hey guys, pretty new here.

I have some questions regarding a rough experience with accelerating and decelerating, and engaging and disengaging the clutch. When I first got my car I fell in love with the way it felt to drive. After having it serviced I was told it needed a new clutch. $2000 later I had a new clutch and replaced head gasket. Ever since this, my car has never been the same. The new clutch is soft and spongy, it has no definite shudder point and no matter how I drive I just cant change gears smoothly.

This combined with a real jerky accelerator is giving me the s###s.

I recently had my fuel filter replaced and injectors cleaned cause unknown to me I was using crappy E10 disguised as "Unleaded 95". After having this done the car runs a lot smoother, but still the car really jolts when accelerating and pulls back harshly. I have been told this is to do with the car being AWD but I'm not convinced.

Does anyone else experience this rough ride?

I can't give much advice except that you can't blame all wheel drive for that.

No lib (or other AWD) I have driven (I haven't driven a gen 3) has had that.

obviously i don't know to what extinct yours jerks under acceleration and deceleration, but my suby is the same especially at low speed. mine can be quite harsh and at times violent if I'm not riding the clutch to smooth it out. i have learnt to use the clutch more for a smoother ride. i know others that find this also (manuals)

i had my clutch and fly replaced and did notice it to be considerably more jerky initially as the fly catches to the clutch plate a lot better.
i was annoyed with mine at first for the same reasons. but the guy who did mine didn't instal it properly and was overheating. so if your truly not happy get them to check it over.

I think the term your looking for is 'backlash' . I have a gen 3 and mine does it horribly! A mates gen 3 B4 has hardly any backlash, so maybe it can be adjusted? Anyone had experience with this?

If the throttle is sticky then lubricate the cable.

OEM replacement clutches are a soft pedal because they were not designed as a performance clutch. The older cars and clutches were designed to be soft and easy to operate.

Sounds just like it! I'm now driving mine by using the clutch more, and now I'm starting to think that's why the original clutch didn't even make it to 100,000k.

It's really quite annoying. I don't like having to drive my car like a grandma. Should I have got a better / high performance clutch?

I have an incline it has something to do with the whole 'dual mass' vs 'single mass' thing with clutches. Mine is still an OEM dual mass, I have been told to change it over to a single mass heavy duty Exedy clutch assembly. Which ill do when I do my conversion. Apart from that I couldn't tell you 100% as for all I know you could have a single mass...

what you're experiencing is a combination of a few things.
1) crappy DMF clutch setup
2) driveline "slack" also movement in subframe and transmision/ engine bushes/ mounts
3) speciofic RPM points in the ECU where the injectors are shut off and re-started under decelleration which does cause the car to lurch forwards.

Mine squeals if I rev a lil too much goin into 1st and shudders if I don't rev enough goin in too. A similar shudder is experienced when the engine speed is really low, going down into 2nd. I hate it. It seems to be the dual mass system. I'm going to hav mine converted to a single mass system using the Exedy Heavy Duty Kit.

that just sounds like your clutch is on its way out.
