does anyone know if the 1998 2.5i engine (gen 2) can run e10 fuel with the stock fuel lines and pump?... getting sick of paying >$1.50 for standard unleaded and its getting harder and harder to find at service stations. cheers

In my expensive experience, no. I will never use E10 again, well, I didn't even know I was using it cause it was only labeled as "Unleaded 95".
My car was running very rough and engine light frequently came on when the fuel was low. I recently had my fuel filter replaced and the mechanic gave it to me; it's covered in junk. After an injector clean out and a full tank of premium it's running so much better. Don't risk it for cheap fuel.

There is a few threads on this. After doing a bit of research. E10 should do the opposite of gunk up fueling components. I use it whenever pulp gets tk expensive. Car runs fine and never have any problems. It doesn't have a high calorific value compared to premium so a tank won't get you as far. It's up to you. A few people say its ruined there filters and pumps but the majority of threads and discussions ive read seem to be in favout e10.

I wouldn't use but if you still want to alternate between a tank of e10 and a tank or 95. It should lessen the chance of something breaking.
