i've wanted a Raptor Supercharger since i got my P's.... but however in Queensland it's illegal for a "P Plater" to
drive a Supercharged or Turbocharged vehicle (unless turbo diesel) that and i dont have $5500+ :(

Constant Power :)

Save your coins, its worth every cent in my opinion. VERY easy to get the intercooled supercharger up and running (especially if you have a denso ECU). Trickiest thing is installing the "denso pink" fuel injectors, which in itself is pretty easy lol.

Sorry about the lack of recent pics!! There are a few pics in the earlier pages of this topic but PLENTY more coming soon. Here's some 3rd gear pulls so you can see the development in power/torque

So, I finally got the cams done on my car!! Power has improved substantially, especially the mid-range torque. It also makes different noice, the sound of the exhaust pulses is significantly louder.

Power graphs to follow, its been WAY WAY warmer then when I last tested so I'm waiting for things to cool off a bit. I also need to fix up an ineffeciency with my supercharger belt, I'm down from 9psi to 8psi.

All in all, i'm VERY happy to finally have my car back and I'm thoroughly enjoying the increased power!! Ohh and the new water cooled chager is awesome!! Even after a long hard drive, the water jacket around the charger is stone cold :D

Busy lad!

I just wonder quietly if your reduced boost may be due to additional cam over lap on the intake/exhaust, might be blowing a bit of air out the exhaust - just a guess as I dont know the cam specs

Cheers Tradewind, I never considered that! However I spent today servicing my belt and found a few problems. First the charger plate wasn't in position properly, it was back a couple mm which made the belt run at an angle. Also the belt was right on the outside edge of the plastic idler pulley (creating a bad torque) so I've spaced it with a washer. Also both idler bearings were in need of a clean thanks to my love of gravel roads...hehe. Also found some gunk in around my power steering pulley that was creating a lot of drag!!

Now the belt is straight and the bearings are rolling much much better. Also the stock belt tensioner (alternator) was at its limit and the belt was juuuuust starting to go loose. Now with the alloy idler pulley moved to its lower mount, I can get proper tension in the belt. All this I feel should bring me back to 9psi...just in time for that impeller hey Tradewind?

It's the journey!!! Not the destination...and it's been quite a journey the last few months

Hey team,

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I will be getting a new block soon.
The bad news is that I have cracked a piston in the current motor.

Trade, do you have the piping to add the supercharger to the WTA cooling loop? I am thinking of getting rid of that air cooling box.

turner822, did you end up using TWE Stage 2 cams?

Hey welcome back Blade, sorry to hear about your engine!! Rebuild to a monster :D

Go for stage II or III TWE cams (and springs!!) but make sure you have a VERY close look at your current setup. Understand the oil journals and how they lube the cams or you'll end up like me with oil pressure popping things out and generally making a mess.

I am currently getting some scary performance with stage II cams...the power is truly linier with no real drop of in the power/torque curve that I have been brave enough to reach. Basically power/torque continues to increase with RPM. Currently sitting around 195-200 atw kW @ 6500rpm. Project the curve and it would be a bit terrifying if I pushed another 1000rpm...

I will have to post some pics, I re-jigged my cooling and intake setup for max airflow and for once an idea of mine worked well :)

Blade

Turner had his stock cams reground, if you send your cams to same cam regrinder you can have same profile on your cams. Save all the shippings costs etc, all you need is the TWE springs.

Regrinding stock cams gets around all the issues turner has mentioned.

Cam re grind is better then I thought. Could use the TWE cam profile and make the adjustments to stock cams. The cams are grinded on the BACK SIDE (non-contact side) and the rockers arms are then set closer to the cams to achieve increased lift. In other words: that super tough, pre-worn contact surface on your stock cams remains 100% intact

Correct. More air in combustion chamber means less inoet manifold boost. Boost is a measure of restriction, so the cams obviously flow more air

Thanks for that!! Much appreciated, I was still wondering about that, the boost curve sits just below where is was with stock cams. As soon as you explained it, I realised that makes sense and matches results. Cheers
