Ok just a quick post showing initial results with stock vs. TWE headers. As you can see there is a big torque loss but I should point out the shape of the torque curve. My gearbox prefers the TWE headers if you imagine that spike in the torque curve (stock headers) and how fast revs are climbing as that torque rockets up, then is cut off @270+nm and next gear lands it right smack bang in that flat spot: very tricky and often jerky/slow. TWE headers is flat and smooth the whole way which means 99% of shifts feel awesome especially at about 6700-6800. I miss the torque down low but every time I get on the power (regardless of what I rev to) it just feels so smooth. The main thing west_minist and I think are holding it back are cams so I'm trying to scrape together some money at the idea of pulling the engine out again...

180kw on the wheel from a supercharged 2.5!

Either way you have added pretty much 80 units over where you started! Supremely the best SC result on a stock engine.

I wonder what power it would have made with stock headers but with those added RPMs? If you draw the lines on a bit with the stock headers you get   power

Lol at the peak torque only 700rpm before the limiter

The first attempts with the 3.0 sc started out around those numbers!!

We need to ratchet the 3.0 program up a bit more hey, otherwise the lighter weight 2.5 SC cars will be hard on their heals

Thats about 240kw on the motor for that 2.5

Sorry to get off topic, but Tim, forged internals with an even smaller pulley for more boost is sounding tempting

Btw Tim, I haven't done a dyno run on the 9psi pulley. The new idler arrived today so thanks for that =)

Lol, Nick I can see you are chasing power. In which case I shall chase torque 8)

Still a bit to go to catch up to the non intercooled 7.5psi 3ltr

We will soon see what the 9psi pulley can do on an intercooled 3ltr 8)

AWESOME result Nick.

Tim,

I believe once the cams are attainable, we can see what kw/tq curve will look like. Its been a nice project, but did highlighted programming issues in the ECU.

XRT

OK, can you give a brief over view of what kind of difficulties you found with the ECU? N says the vehicle runs extremely well and is powerful, you must have played some tricks with ECU in that case .............

went up against an FG XR6T yesterday (probs stock) and kept up, though he was gently pulling away (which is why I think it was stock). My take off was pretty crap though.

Gives you some idea of what you ride can do, image trying it in a stock 2.5 .....................

So Nick, good thing you have done your valve springs/retainers..... coz I believe I have destroyed/damaged mine on one side. Hit the rev limiter on the way home the other day and was running extremely rough as I rolled down my street and reversed into the garage. No better last night when I started the car and idled just in my garage. damnit! and a couple of weeks before I am due to go to Norway for 6 weeks

Blade

Did you retune after fitting the higher boost pulley?

yep. Retune was done the same day as the pulley was fitted.

I'll talk to West, I should be able to load the Motec software onto my laptop and plug it in to the ECU to get some readouts while the car is in my garage.

Oh no good blademaster!! Sorry to hear. That was my biggest fear with the top end...it was a real pain to take engine out for springs/retainers but when u hold the stock/TWE springs in your hand you see the HUGE design differences. TWE springs are good to 8500rpm!! Seeing as nothing else in the engine could handle that, I think they are a safe bet :)

Stage II cams being fitted as we speak and water cooled charger is pretty well on its way.

Oh and my opinion of XR6T is "cheap horsepower in a fat overweight body". Brother in law has a 2012 model and its fricken terrifying under heavy breaking/hard cornering...but that's just my opinion :)
