Im looking at purchasing a my07 2.5 to put in my my04 outback is there any difference in wiring? Will it all plug up to my loom?

The wiring will most likely be different due to different heads and later model Subaru's have air pump systems etc.

The best way to approach it is to remove your engine, put your current heads and manifolds on the my07 block with new gaskets and refit it, then sell the my07 heads/manifolds/etc.

Would there be any advantages of fitting the newer motor power wise?

Now that's an idea would it be easier to do it out side the car before bolting it in?
