This is true. Recalls are safety related faults and are free for life. If there were a safety recall for a gc8 it would still be free now.

This is true. Recalls are safety related faults and are free for life. If there were a safety recall for a gc8 it would still be free now.[/quote]

Im going to ring up subaru capalaba tomorrow during smoko and see what the deal is. If i actually remember to call and do get a response, il let you know.

Rang zupps subaru in capalaba today. I gave them my vin and they said there is no recall for it. I may try another dealership another time incase they've stuffed up.

Well, I guess if there is no recall, I'm still "dang outta warranty"

Might give my guys in Melville a call see if they know about a recall.

Same problem on mine, airbag light comes on every now and again and won't turn off. I've taped the connectors under the seat now, which seems to help. Ages ago I took it to Subaru and their only solution was "we can fit a brand new wiring harness, that'd be $2000". So I taped them up instead

This is correct. I have had an intermittent "airbag" light for a while now. Just got it diagnosed and fixed today.
Fault code 81. Belt Pretensioner 2 failure. Right Driver side.
Had to get new electric connector fitted to fix the problem.
