AIRBAG light is on again

Postby AC/DC » Mon Jun 04, 2012 6:00 pm

Hey guys. When i went to have a look, test drive and deposit upon my lib, it had the airbag light on. He went and got it repaired and has stayed off for some months now...however its poped back up. Me (not much help), my old man (slightly experienced) have looked underneath and even had it up on a mates hoist to have a look for any crash signs or dodgey mods, not to check for airbag light as this was some months ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Edit: and yes the car was very clean underneath.

Go to a mechanic and get them to scan it on the diagnostic scanner. They can tell you the error code and faulty part/system

My 04 2.5 sedan has this problem, but for me it's the pretensioner.

Cheers will have a look into that. Just read your signature... And wow supercharged? Was it originally a 2.5i or gt?

an cheap OBD2 scanner won't work. You'll need a Subaru specific one to read the airbag codes.

And the service centres has those. I had to take mine there to get them to figure out what airbag code it was.

Yea i have a feeling that may the problem. The light is back off at the moment. Thanks for some slight reassurance that an airbag wont go off in my face!

common fault causing airbag light is the drivers seatbelt pretensioner electrical connector. the connector is faulty and there is a recall to replace it with a revised part.

Yep, phone them, mention the issue and ask if they can carry out the warranty repair.

I'm pretty sure you don't need warranty if it's a recalled item?
