Engine sound.

So this is where I'm at and please do correct me if I'm wrong,

Option 1- replace the bearings...which is essentially a full rebuild? Does anyone know how much this might cost?

Option 2- second hand engine and drop that in... Got a quote 2500 inc. labour for this but i have no idea what year/ condition engine is...

Rebuild can go upto 5k with genuine parts, if the labours cheap and they only do a vrs kit and bearings it may only be 3.5-4k

I suggest a rebuild as you know everything will be new and under warranty, whereas yes a secondhand engine is under warranty, but it is more likely you'll need to take them up on it because it may use oil or get a bottom end knock etc. Which is just a headfuck for everyone involved.
Built not bought, it's a way of life.
