Low squeek from flywheel when taking off. Maybe clutch?

Hey all,

I have recently bought a used liberty - 2.5 manual and have noticed a short squeek noise when taking off from a stop.
It will occasionally happen when changing into second aswell. It only happens when I give it a few more revs and maybe slipping the clutch slightly.

I know it has a dual mass flywheel so just wondering if its rubbing together. It sounds like they are picking up the friction and making the noise. Sounds just like that low pitch chirp that you get from the brakes.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Probably the dual mass flywheel. Known problem with a lot of the Gen4s.

My 2.5 had the same problem (and annoying noise on take off) and had it replaced with an exedy HD organic.

yeah this happened to mine too. don't do what i did and leave it too long because my clutch ended up blowing and i had to get the clutch replaced and the flywheel too. its the early stages of the clutch going. soon it will start slipping too and missing gear changes.

It's the crappy dual mass flywheel, I have same problem as well. Just give it slightly more revs and it won't squeak.

Started doing it about... 15,000KMS ago.

When clutch finally wears out I'm converting to single mass flywheel.
