ive heard that lighter pulleys (don't know which ones exactly) help with acceleration and response. is this true? can someone enlighten me on this? cheers.

i just put in a sprint booster,i think that would be your best solution if you want better response when accelerating.
i find it very good ,thanks again trieu :D :D

there are quite a few companies who do the pullies. they do vary in weight reduction from the ORM of approx 5 punds to just over a pound.

the idea is that the lighter the pulley, the less power is wasted on getting it to spin up. which means more power can be transferred through the drivetrain and down to the ground.

double check the secondary effects of doing this tho, i've heard some stuff, but have had no personal experience so i will not comment.

Don't bother with the Sprintbooster, in my opinion (and also SkoobyGT's). Put the money towards the pulley kit, I've heard from numerous sources that it helps acceleration.

i've got both sprintbooster and GFB pulley kit (but for manual GT). If you're gonna ask me if I would ever buy them again.... i probably wouldn't buy pulley kit again, but would buy sprintbooster. the pulleys made a difference with acceleration but nothing noticable. seeing that your car is auto, i think both mods will help slightly but nothing to go WOW about.

I got both, you'll felt more with booster than pulleys. Manual

hmm interesting debate.

im just after something so that the car can pick up quicker. it feels like it bogs too much n doesnt respond to pedal to the metal... yeah just after something to liven it up

how much are sprintbooster and where can i get them?

See, the Sprintbooster is just that, something that makes you 'feel' faster, giving you the illusion of more power. It's just a bit of electronics that alters your accelerator signal to tell the ECU your throttle is open wider than what it actually is.
(it also has a very negative effect on fuel economy too! )

I think the only way in which the Sprintbooster helps (and I haven't confirmed this, this is just my guess) is that it keeps the throttle open and overrides the ECU's knock sensor - when the knock sensor detects knock it will partially close the throttle for you.

Either way, each to their own. For $450 for the Sprintbooster, it's only an extra ~$150 to get an OpenECU tune done, and you'll get some figure improvements ;)

By the sounds of things, if you want a more responsive throttle, perhaps the Sprintbooster would be enough to do the trick for you. For me, it was fun at first, but it got irritating after a while because it would kickdown gear for you when you just didn't want it to... maybe my opinion would be different to yours :P if only you posted this up earlier, I'd have lent you my Sprintbooster before I sold it...

arghhh dang... such is life. hmm. i read on the other forum about ecu tunes. it dont know if that would help my engine much?

ECU tune would give you an *actual* power increase, however your car being a Heritage, I'm not sure if you will gain much.

Ask Franky (XRC15T) if you want to give the Sprintbooster a go though. He's the man to speak to.
