Good morning!
Well, it’s been a heck of a time these past 3 weeks including this past week with no emails or internet.
The car runs fantastic! Starts instantly and idles perfectly both cold and hot. Much, much improved low end power which, rarely going much over 3k RPM now, is where I need it. Light throttle upshifts occur at a low 2000 (approx) RPM which I think (if memory serves) is lower than the stock tune. This is NOT an issue mind you; just an observation. Doesn’t matter either because of the increase in low end power. And it may contribute to better MPG.
Speaking of MPG, the first full tank with the V3 tune netted 24.81. Not bad! The 2nd tank was low at 23.44 BUT every year around this time I use the 7 or so gallons of stabilized fuel I store for the generator, lawn mower, snow blower, etc. The 3rd tank, having just filled up yesterday, yielded the best mileage I’ve gotten with the car since we bought it this past August; 25.84 MPG. And this was with ambient temps, on a few mornings, being a bit below 0C! All 3 tanks were run the same; to and from work on the same roads and at the same speeds. About 2/3 of my commute is on the highway at 75-80 MPH (just under 3000 RPM).

Cheers,

Thats a hugely impressive result... i didnt think the supercharged 2.5's would get near that much power. Well done!!

Boost was 9psi. Twe cams were used along with twe headers. Also good gas.

Oh,xrt touch.

Power is at wheels and correction is 1. No dynojet figures for which I hate.

The stock 2.5i internals are strong by the look of it.

I think because of the slow ramp, nothing hasn't break yet. If it was a turbo, mostl likely, rod failure.

Everything internal on the stock engine has run amazingly well (run >25,000km). I was amazed with the results and the capabilities of the 2.5i stock engine. The only thing I changed was the cams and I actually regret doing that! It didn't need them.

XRT did brilliant work on my car - 10/10

No problems. I hope it would be a good reflection of the job you’ve done!

“My great appreciation goes to Edward for the job hi’s done tuning ECU for my car. My story began few month ago when I sold my beloved 3GEN 2.5i Liberty and upgraded to 4GEN 2.5i. What was supposed to be an upgrade, left me with a bitter disappointment of 4GEN performance compare to 3GEN. Car was sluggish on response, slow to accelerate and had a noticeable lag in acceleration during gear shift. After few days searching through internet forums I came across posts describing similar situations and the way to fix the problem was custom ECU re-flash. That’s how I came across with ECU tuning service provided by XRT. I made final attempt to rectify issue at Subaru dealer service, they had injectors serviced, did upper engine clean, checked spark plugs, reset TCU and told me that as far as they concerned car is operating within manufacturer specification (i.e. it’s still sucked to drive it). I had contacted Edward, described him my situation and got an answer I hoped for – problem can be addressed by custom ECU tuning. I got a list of things I needed to begin the tune from Edward. When I was ready to start, he connected to my laptop remotely and configured it, so it was easy as a breeze. V0 ROM he prepared for me brought back that excitement I had driving my beloved 3GEN. My 4GEN Liberty became more aggressive, it wanted to jump when I pushed accelerator, lag of power and acceleration disappeared. It was fun do drive this car again. V0 was a bit rough on AT, so occasionally I felt knocks during gear shift, but v1 ROM has addressed this and made AT shifting nice and smooth. The real joy was brought by v2. First notable thing was that gear shift now occurs at lower RPM compare to stock ROM with better power delivery. Shifts with stock ROM occurred above 2500RPM for 1st and 2nd and above 3000RPM for 3rd and 4th. With v2 shifts for 1st and 2nd occur around 2000RPM and 3rd and 4th around 2500RPM. I felt improved performance in 3rd and 4th gears were normally all driving occurs. Even when accelerating uphill, AT rarely downshifted from 4th to 3rd. Most of the time it was just happily sitting in 4th adding up some RPMs when I pushed it. Start from traffic lights became such fun! V2 was giving me such joy of looking at the faces of some unsuspecting victims trying to race me from the traffic lights. :) Driving for about two days I have noticed that car became more fuel efficient as well. On a normal week I was getting about 11.6L/100km city driving. After few days with v2 am getting 9.6L/100km in the city. I suspect it might get up a bit, but nevertheless it’s quite impressive reduction. Overall, great job once again. Thanks, Edward!”

Cheers,

Nick.

Hi Edward,

After almost of two weeks of you tuning the car. I should say the car has been totally transformed, the car sluggishness in the CVT transmission has been fixed, it tends to shift better now than before. It used to stay too much in the higher RPM before it up shift, this makes the car sluggish, noisy and annoying sometimes especially in low speed. The delay or lag in the response of the car when I’ve stepped on the accelerator pedal has also been improved. It completely changed and sharpened the throttle response. Overall, the car feels much lighter, smoother and accelerate much faster than before. When driving on the traffic jam, I can immediately feel the car responsiveness as I can quickly change lane, low to mid end power range definitely have been improved tremendously. When on the freeway, I can easily pass other cars as the car feel so responsive. The engine just revs so freely now and I absolutely love it.

For these past few days, I’m always really excited and have been looking forward to driving the car with your ever improving tuned rom version. This morning, I tried to assess and to remember everything from how my car feels now as compared to before, I started to realize how much you have done to the car. I really love the car now even more and intend to keep it even longer!

Regards,

Gerry

Great work Edward, as always.

My tune is still going strong as ever several years on. I went on a spirited drive with some friends with their NA Impreza RS' a short while back and they were convinced my car was supercharged or at the very least a 3.0 litre engine - "no way that's just a stock 2.5i" they said.

I am bigger, heavier, and longer geared than they are, yet was pulling away and maintaining power on turns more easily than they were. :D
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...
