Hi Guys,

I'm currently looking at a 2003 MY04 model liberty. I believe this is the first model of the new liberty's in it's range. Is there any problems i should be looking out for?
It has less than 100k'm on it. Stock, semi-auto. Please let me know if there is anything in specific i should be looking for as I am interested in the current car I am looking it.
Thank you :)

Well first of all when you say 'less than 100,000km I'm assuming you mean it's close to the 100,000km.
Check if the 100,000km service has already been performed, because if not it's going to be expensive as I think the timing belt has to be changed, so expect over $1000+ for that service alone (at Subaru).

Also which specific model you are looking at would help greatly, I'm guessing it's just a 2.0/2.5 NA though.

Good luck.

+1 on the timing belt (all Subaru's except the 6 cylinders need their timing belt replaced around 100,000km). That's a $1k bargaining point for you if it hasn't been done

I own a 2003 MY04 model liberty/ Semi-auto. This is a great car, I've had it since 60,000kms. It now has 130,000kms. I've only ever done the 100,000km major service. This car would have been one of the first "New Liberties" to have come off the production line, and having worked for ford motor company, I can tell you it would have been put together with alot of finesse from the production floor, and closely monitored for build quality by upper management and on-site engineering.
So, based on what I've seen at ford - this car set the standard & therefore should be flawless. :)

Also have a 2003 (December) built MY04 auto wagon and got it with 93,000km 4 years ago and now only 124,000km and just had normal service and lower arm bushes done. Still drives great, and had a Gen 3 with 150,000km on it that still drove better than some new cheap cars do......

I'm not afraid of high kms on these babies! :)
