Oil recommedations

My mate was telling me the other day he could hear the "lifters" in my liberty and an oil change would help. [I Dont know] im not a mechanic--
Can anyone recommend a good Oil, keeping in mind my libertys, 2003 and has 130,000km on it.
Ive been using Castrol GTX 3 for some time now, which my mate doesnt recommend...anyone?

Nah not really, the issues been diagnosed to the lifters, i need an oil recommendation

Just now another mates recommended PENRITE HPR 15?

My wifes MY03 Forester has recently started the lifter tick, and all my previous Subies have done it...

BP used to have an oil additive that would stop it, I believe by making the oil less viscous, which would make it stay in the galleries into the hydraulic lifter chamber, but there really isn't any way of preventing it long term... Once the additive broke down, the tap would come back...

If you're really stressing it, go to see Ross Fraser at Cromwood Automotive, or Lucas at Lucas Automotive... both are Subaru specialists, and will be able to tell you if the tappet noise is normal or not
