Yeah it was two tanks all up with the second one being the record maker - full tank from Sydney to Lithgow via Bells Line of Road, then onto Bathurst, and then onto Young the next morning where I refuelled (wasn't empty, but figured the further west I went, the less chance I'd encounter BP Ultimate to fill up with). Onwards to Temora for the night and then the next morning I left for Canberra to spend the afternoon, and then back to Sydney that evening where I filled up at Pennant Hills, all in one tank.

Makes me wonder how far I'd get on a full-on non-stop run for the entire tank without traffic and townships to slow down for!

Not something I intend to repeat, believe me! The needle was well and truely sitting on the E, well past the end of the guage where it really never ought to be, and I was seriously believing that I was going to surge the car at any minute, but thankfully I wasn't that close. :)

I drive a 2008 liberty auto 2.5i, from what ive been reading i should be getting around 10L/100Km the first time ive checked it last night im sitting on 8Km/1L which is pretty average. so im curious as to what im doing wrong. And no it wasnt harsh driving. :)

In city driving, I get on average between 11 and 13 litres per 100 kilometres, with the 11 being a week of passive driving in reasonable stop-start traffic and 13 where I get sick of the stop-start traffic and blitz the back roads. ;)

If I do longer distance city driving in reasonably free-flowing traffic, I can drop as low as 9 litres, but generally 10.

Considering that our Subarus are running an all-wheel drivetrain, those figures are pretty good, really. You can improve your general efficiency by making sure your oil is changed regularly and pump up your tyres to 36 or 38 psi cold (whatever feels comfortable for you) to reduce the rolling resistance. I personally run 38psi cold on all four corners.
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...
