I googled this thing... Google told me it is used to quieten down the exhaust??? :S

yes it'll quieten down your exhaust, but not as much as the stock one. so your car will be louder than stock.

A hot dog is mainly used to replace something that's restricting flow in your exhaust, or to make it a bit more quiet when there's just a long run of pipe. Removing the stock center exhaust will introduce a new level of noise, even when replacing it with a hot dog. Plus having a N/A, you don't want to free up the flow too much or else you lose low end power.

They also greatly reduce drone!
i was going to just run no centre muffler at all, but decided against it, hence the hotdoggitydog.

I am now saving to get either two magnaflows for the rear or personalised plates!

I'm going to try and do a vid tonight

To be seen or to be heard! That's quite a dilemma! :D

You should consider the MagnaFlows! Since you have gutted mufflers and no center muffler, there's nothing to absorb the exhaust noise whatsoever. Laps, I wouldn't recommend this route. Get yourself some proper mufflers.

Yeh ill be happy with some nice hitechs, but mufflers will be the last thing I do. I think im about 2 Months (paid monthly, and including tax refund :D) off having everything done to my car... Rego/Service set me back like a month and a half ;[

Didn't you post up that you're after a set in the Wanted To Buy section? What if someone said they had a set available?

Mufflers > Rego + service. Both of which could potentially cost you lots more than what you spend on mufflers.

In regards to the custom exhaust... Considering there are so many bolt on options available (From Japan, Phat Quads, STI Quads, etc) it's not worth it IMHO.

You just run the risk of having it drone or sound like rubbish... Been there done that in some passed cars :P

really depends on where you go.

i know if i go to my exhaust guy, i just sit there watchin him, give him cash and i know it'll sound just how i want it.

When i got my commo done, i bought an off the shelf item, it was just noise and drone.

took it in, he knows what i like, and he got it sounding so good, and he was just trying something out on it, never done it on a customer car before.

Looks like you're lucky enough to find a diamond in the rough :D

I think it also comes down to the experience they have with the cars etc... Sadly, even though the Gen 4's have been around for a long time, people aren't overly familiar with them as they are not seen as a "tuner car"... It you have a WRX or STI it's a different kettle of fish of course :P
