Wants suggestions for 2005 Liberty wagon my06 MODS

Postby Newbaruowner » Sun Feb 24, 2013 11:31 pm

I guys, I recently purchased a 2nd hand 2005 Liberty Wagon.

I'm am so pleased with the Car, its the first really nice Car i've had and well its the first Car that has inspired me to get involved enough to join a forum let alone mod.

I'm still getting used to it but i'm already wondering what i can do squeeze more power out of it. Nothing huge or expensive maybe just an ECU.

Also its a manual and though it sounds nice i wouldn't mind getting a little more grunt out of the exhaust, my last car was a 96 mazda 626 but it had holes in the exhaust sounded great for some reason...not just loud but actually nice the must have just been in the right places. Anyway My liberty seems so quiet on the inside (i know thats supposed to be a good thing) but i just like listening to a car run.

Anything i can do?

welcome to the forum!

with the 2.5N/As there is not much you can do to drive more grunt out of them, maybe a free flowing exhaust system (gains are minimal, but the sound is nice).
I would recommend doing suspension upgrades; swaybars, springs (or coilovers depending on budget), braces, bushes etc. All of that will make the car handle so much nicer

Reflashing the ECU is dependant on the ECU you have. It is located behind the carpet on the passenger side footwell. There are 2 types of ECU for the 2.5N/As
Hitachi ECU: Not re-flashable, not re-programmable, not piggyback-able, raise your fist to the sky and curse your horrible luck. It is replaceable, but at HUGE cost
Denso ECU: flashable, and remote tuning can be done by one of the guys on the forums (else your local subaru tuner)

Thanks for the reply =)

i'll check that out, i love the car. so i won't be cursing too much anything i could have done would have been a bonus. I just purchased it and its about to do its 200,000 km service so hopefully with the major service done it might get a a lil better too.

i'll look into the handling upgrades, i'm not a brilliant driver but this car inspires me, i used to engage in some risky driving behavior when i was 18 and early twenties don't all young men? now however i'm the type of guy who just cruises and lets people merge, that said i do like acceleration more than speed its useful when people can't make up their minds on the road and you have to decide for them.

i'll look into the ECU, hopefully it will can be modded. I that the only thing i can do to get a little extra out?

thanks again.

If you have a denso ECU, think of stage I supercharging. Add up spending money on exhaust and intake and you get close to supercharging. Raptor SC have kits starting at $3200??
