hey guys just want to know what would be the best option for me i own a 2004 4gen liberty wagon n want more power and still drive it everyday would it be easier to rebuild the motor in the car to a turbo engine or would it be better to buy a ej25turbo then thorw a few mods on it

Cheaper to swap it out for turbo motor. I went through the same thought pattern before my engine made the decision for me.
By the time you source all the parts needed and labour to fit plus tuning you will be up for close to $6000 or you can get the 2.5turbo engine for under $4000

yeah i was thinking that just the case of finding one with low km and been looked after

or before putting the motor in get all new rings and gasket put in it i was hoping to pull maybe 300 350 kw what are the chances of that with a stock block

350 at the wheels. The block would need to be sleeved but possible. I can get motors with under 100000kms for cheapish. At the momenti have a second motor up on the for sale thread but have another member interested in it. They come around maybe every month or so.

In the for sale thread or search my posts. Haven't really been looking for prices on sleeving as 250 at the wheels is more than enough for me.

Or alternatively you could buy the tk heads And flat 4 performance engine that is also for sale in the for sale thead. That engine would easily hold 400 at the wheels.

This would be your best bet

The 2.0 litre motors can hold a lot more power than the 2.5 in stock form

There is absolutely no way in hell a stock ej255 turbo motor will hold 300-350kw at the wheels

To get to this level you will at a minimum need to put some decent headstuds in there, piss off the wafer based standard bearings, and have the bottom end balanced.

As Matt said, anything over 300 on a semi closed deck block (which the ej255 or 257 are), should be sleeved and close decked.

Sleeving cannot just be done in isolation. There is a lot involved and a proper rebuild like this with labour and parts and supporting mods to get you to 350 atw reliably will cost you at least $15,000 absolute minimum

Do lots and lots of reading and triple check before you go into something

If you want my advice, buy a turbo car, it'll be Better for you
