Air Intake Box

hey guys i have a 3GEN MY02 liberty and i was wondering for the air intake why is there a box before the air filter box as well? what is its purpose and is it ok if i run the air intake without the box? cheers

Do you mean the intake resonator?

If so then no you don't need it

what does the intake resonator do? if i take it out will it be a bit louder?

oh awesome I might take it out is there anything bad that can happen if I take it out? can someone tell me what it does?

the intake air resonates down there making it really quite some how. I have done a few removals before. Doesnt make it much louder but it is a noticeable difference.
