99 rx trans

seems like my trans or clutch is on its way out as when I switch into drive when its cold in the morning it takes a couple of seconds to go into gear..

any suggestions on what it might be or possible upgrades to the trans that i can do to make it better?? (swap in a wrx with tiptronic? )

well i assume it's auto so it won;t be the clutch.

generally it'll just need a thorough flush and new fluid to make it happier.

Here is how Al from AM Auto does it

I always recommend fitting a large oil cooler, around the size of an A4 sheet, and also flush the fluid in the auto and replace it with TQ95 fluid. This is a semi synthetic fluid that is designed to rectify problems in many gearboxes that run Dex111 oil. You should also change the spin on filter on the box (if applicable). Flushing the box does not mean dropping the plug out and draining it, you will only get around 30% of the total volume out doing this which is not good enough. To flush the auto you take off an oil cooler hose, start the engine and pump out the fluid until the hose starts spluttering(technical term ). Then refill the box with TQ95 and repeat until the oil colour returns to a rich red(it will probably be brown atm). This will take around 10l of oil so can be expensive.
I have had many GT boxes(and WRX auto) that have felt so bad that they were heading for the bin that have been completely righted by simply flushing the auto and fitting an adequate oil cooler.

i already replaced some of the dexron3 using the drain plug, might have to try this method if it gets really bad, or maybe on the next service, thanks for the advice.
