99 rx leans out on acceleration sometimes pops

Postby bigrich » Sun Mar 04, 2012 9:09 pm

Hi There,

I have recently acquired a my99 gen 3 liberty, that seems to run lean sometimes and hesitates when i press the throttle to accelerate (sometimes there is pop when this happens). I originally thought the maf might need a clean but then found out on here that these dont have a maf then proceeded to clean the IACV to see if that made a difference (seemed to fix an idle problem that was less significant than the hesitation problem).

there doesn't seem to be any fault codes being reported but I might try that again tomorrow as maybe disconnecting the battery today wiped them...

these cars run ok on standard 91 servo fuel right?? (thats what i'm running right now)

Cheers, Rich.

91 is ok, but never fill up with E10 especially on a regular basis. i run mine on 98 but its worth it in my opinion. is yours manual or auto?
Apparently i've never been on live television before

Knock sensor.

Unscrew it and wrap it in a rag and go for a drive.

Just replace it with genuine. Easy and more reliable, I would never use an aftermarket sensor. aftermarket filters and things I'd do, but sensors always genuine. more reliable.
Built not bought, it's a way of life.
