Fuel Pump Issues?

Postby Protaeus » Mon Apr 11, 2011 12:32 am

Hey guys,

I'm having some issues with my car at the moment which I think might be related to the fuel pump?

Here are the symptoms:

If I leave the car for a while (overnight say) it takes a while to get started
I've been getting a strange air rushing noise in the fuel hard lines. It is there a couple of seconds after the car starts up and sounds like a hose leak. The sound just about dissappears when accelerating hard, but comes back again when driving normally.
When cold, the car often bogs down on takeoff, particularly when taking off on slight hills. This happens most mornings when I turn off my street onto the main road. Its a four lane road and it makes doing a right turn to the opposite side of the road interesting. Its fine after that usually and the issue doesn't come up when the car is warm.

What do you guys think? I have changed the fuel filter and the fuel regulator hope that these will solve these issues, but they haven't done much at all. Spark plugs and leads are also new.

Any suggestions?

Also, from my reading it seems cheaper to get after market fuel pumps vs OEM?

Thanks.

could be you wont know until you take it into a workshop to mount a fuel pressure gauge to it or run a diagnostic check with ECU data scan on the OBD port.

Hi Mate,

I have the same problem with my NA Gen III, I had the fuel pump changed yesterday, and it fixed nothing, Go to a mechanic that has fuel pressure test machine, and check the pressure, as it might indicate there is not enough pressure which means new injectors. I am going to make a post in this thread and see if Rick can make it a sticky, as I hear a few people have had this issue, I am nearing the end of the process which is long and annoying.

Cheers

Thanks for letting me know Turtlez.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having these issues.

I'll take the car to the mechanic next week and I'll put up a post if I get any answers.
