Help Please!!!

Postby adz2.0r » Thu Jun 18, 2009 3:49 pm

I need some help guys, When i drive my car sometimes i will be cruising along in 3rd or 4th gear and then when i go to put my foot down the car just seems to not want to go. Its like something is restricting it.
I thought it might be the fuel and have tried every different type of high octane fuel and Mobile seems to be the best with the problem happening less.
It dosent happen everytime i drive but it does happen and it really s@#ts me.

Any ideas?

Has that always been the case or is it only just recent? I think that's what's known as a dead spot in the power curve. Try some injector cleaners or perhaps an ECU reset for a cheap fix. Otherwise a few choice mods accompanied by a tune gets rid of it.

It has been like this for a while. Sometimes in 5th gear i accelerate and as it is picking up revs it just stops and struggles to go so i drop it back to 4th and it struggles for afew secounds and then power all of a sudden.

I will try the injector cleaner thanks Arith.

If it's not the injectors, although it sounds alot like a fuel issue, injectors, filters etc, then it could also be an earthing issue. Auto electrician will sort that one.

I am petty sure it is a fuel problem because when I use certain brands of fuel it seems to happen more often, I have found Mobil to be the best.

Could be a lot of things mate I suggest go to Subaru or a mechanic who has the scanning tool and firstly check for any error codes logged on the ECU; it will save you a LOT of time troubleshooting the dozens of issues it could be.

If the scan finds a problem which is due to a manufacturing defect, then yes.

The milk bottle thing is the resonator. Check when you removed and refitted the airbox/intake hoses that you haven't left something loose or misaligned, check the connector for the airflow meter etc is clean and connected properly.

Then, try disconnecting your battery for 5mins then reconnect to reset the ECU. Do this to see if there is an improvement before you go to the dealer.
