Hey all,
Well after semi-thrashing the Lib on the weekend (Nasho Run) she's driving like a pig this morning.
Seems at about 2000rpm (especially in 2nd) she coughs or something....its like as it increases the revs the fuel supply or something becomes intermittent.......but by the time you're at 3000rpm she's really climbing and wants to go harder?!?!?
Really weird.
I'm thinking maybe a loose spark lead/plug....but then surely that would be an issue throughout the rev range?!??!
Really need some help here guys coz the smooth acceleration that I was loving has just gone. She just splutters and coughs from 2000-3000 in second and sometimes in 3rd/1st.
Any thoughts?

i would say it would be almost impossible to diagnose a problem like this over a forum as it could be one of many things

I would probably start with a bottle of fuel injector cleaner and move from there if that doesn't help.

...and maybe reset the ECU.
Anyone know which fuse to pull?

i'd go some fresh fuel.
then do a proper warm up cycle on it.

I had the same problem. The injector cleaner (red liquid) really helped and so did a new tank of fuel.

In many instants, it is the IACV. This may need cleaning.
Also causing a problem there are the spark plugs going slowly. I find it is the combination that makes that area the worst and if you log, it is the most area for pinging and large AFR swings

i know a couple of 2.0r engines with similar symptoms. take it into subaru, they will know what to do.. doesnt happen often, but it happens... im not a mechanic. bt has something to do with the fuel... they will fix it any way, and its not a big issue

Yep, add a little fuel or reduce AVCS in that area.

you know that happens to me. What i tend to do is when i start the car expecially in the morning ill leave the car on for about 7+ mins before i drive it. Because expecally in winter, in the morning its soo cold. you gotta let the car warm up, if it still does it, it might be your petrol. If anything its happened to me before and what ill tend to do is reset the ECU by disconnecting the battary and hold brake for about 30 seconds or so, then start the car and thrash it again hahaha

Hi, Have you fixed this problem yet? I own a 2006 2.0r liberty and i have had this flat spot and no power problem for about 2 months, I know that it has something to do with the ECU because everytime i apply a software update it fixes it for a few days then happens again.
Cheers
