High fuel consumption on Liberty 2004

Hi guys,

I just bought a 2004 liberty 2.0 a month ago. And I'm surprised how it costs me on fuel. 12.5-13l/100km.
In compared with my last VW Passat V6 3.0, there is no big difference.

Another problem is, sometimes it seems to choke when i hit the gas. Brought it to mechanic this morning, he ran a scan and found nothing. The engine runs smoothly and quietly.

I downsized from a V6 to a 2.0l 4 cylinders for saving money on fuel, and it seems to be a big disappointment. :angry2:

Any helps would be appreciated. Cheers.

Welcome.

Are you talking about a 2.0 litre GT or a 2.0i?

@fibble: mine is not a Gt one so I guess it's 2.0i. I have searched around, and some guys has 2.5l engine still got around 9-10l/100km. Mine is too high. :(

I have the same issue. Mine is a manual and I average around 10.8L/100km driving normally, and last time I fuelled up I made a new 'trip' and decided to try and drive overly slowly and economically. So I've been driving round like a grandma for half a tank now and according to my trip computer I'm only averaging 9.6L/100km. A friend of mine recently bought a 2012 Impreza with a n/a EJ20 engine too, and he averages around 7.5L/100km just driving normally.

I don't understand how it is so thirsty?! Even when I'm highway cruising I can only get it down to 8.8L/100km. Must be the same with all 2.0R's.

Answer: Buy a 2012 Impreza.

On the freeway I get about 6.6 L /100km in my 2L GT.
If I could drive slowly, I can get around 9L/100km mixed, possibly less, but I can't, so I don't :)
