Exhaust Modifications

I'm in the market for a new exhaust or muffler system for my car. What options can you guys suggest that will give me a deeper note, a significant increase in noise when driven agressively but bearable on the highway cruising, oh and plus a bit of power increase?

My options include;
HKS Premium Mufflers (www.nextmod.com.au) ~$600
Blitz NUR (http://www.nengun.com/blitz/) ~$500

Yeah and thats pretty much all I've got at the moment. If anyone has any suggestions that would be sweet.

Cheers

Punch a hole in your current mufflers.

How do I put this... Mufflers are designed to muffle sound and emissions.

:D

Don't let Alan read that, he'll punch you for ruining the sale.

$600 for HKS? Is that per muffler?

There are quite a few options out there. Whether you want an application specific or universal fit, all depends on what sound you're after.

Universals are cheaper, but tend to produce drone inside because they weren't specifically designed for the Libertys.

So if you care about drone, pay a bit more for an application specific one. You just need to determine which sound you prefer. Try searching YouTube (or this forum) for various recordings of exhausts to see which one you like.

can i just ask, is your car a single or double muffler setup?
The reason is that my 2.0L was single originally and i did this

actually, more to the exhaust specific point i did this...

my point is that you might be able to just grab a setup from a turbo guy that has upgraded and it will work out cheaper. my car sounds alot better now. also you should speak to phat about a panel filter if you don't already have one.

I'm pretty sure its $600 for the pair, but only the mufflers. I'm trying to find this email from Alan Woo from Nextmod to confirm that price.

Narr its a double muffler system. I'll probably send an email PHAT's way and see what he an do for me.

Is it worth the money for the STi Quad Tip exhaust setup or only worth it if you've got a GT?

If you want sound, the STi quadtip isn't what you're after. It's only very slightly louder.

Hmm, that's another aspect besides sound. Are you after a specific look? Large round single tip or quad tips?

Yeah. Get Jim's titanium K2 exhaust ;)

Naw. Unless he gets a dump pipe, the K2's will be a bit quiet for him. For quad tips there's still HiTech, Corazon, Zelius and Albero. Otherwise a customised setup with MagnaFlow mufflers would be suffice.

I'm more after the large round single tip look, slightly bigger than the stock tip diameter.

Im looking at the $600-$700 mark for an axle back system. I don't really want to go for the universla type as I want to keep it specific to the Liberty!

For about $700 you could probably find a secondhand STi quadtip, however it's not going to be as loud as what you want.

When you say not as loud, I dont really want to wake the neighbours when I speed off in the morning but loud enough to make an impression when I put my foot down? Ive checked those YouTube video's out but is there a big difference between an NA and a GT - Not that im fussed but I only want to buy something if there will be a significant change compared to the stock exhaust.
Thanks for your help by the way, you guys all seem to be sales persons for your particular system.
