Fuel Consumption: 2.0R N/A vs "The GT's"

Most of my posts are concerned with fuel consumption. Im a student so im pretty tight on fuel and getting the maximum km's out of my car!

Im halfway on a round trip from Canberra to Gilgandra (slight undulating roads, mostly flat highway) and arrived with an average of 8.6km/100km.

I'm just curious what other 20.R drivers would get on a 450km trip compared to the GT drivers?
Its also probably a trival question but Im curious if the turbo makes an improvement on efficiency or just power?

Just had a quick look and I'm sitting on exactly 12L/100km (GT) on pure start/stop driving with no highway runs. I think the best i've ever done was 10.6L

Power doesn't come free :)

air + fuel = combustion = power.

doesnt matter what type of car, fuel consumption depends how/where u drive it, mods also make a difference.

Just returned home from my trip. The best I got down to on the way home was 6.8L/100km. Its the first time ever i've made the trip home from Gilgandra on one tank of petrol. I think im just dumbstruck because i used to own a 3.0L 6 cylinder shitbox.

My auto MY04 GT uses between 12 to 20 litres per 100km. This is almost only city driving. Depends who is driving. My wife averages 12 and I average 20.

Well come to think of it, since im a tight ass on money at the moment, Im glad my 2.0L NA can get well over 450km even 500km if i drive like a Grandma. But I guess there will come a time when the devil inside my head will begin to crave a GT. But until then.....I'll just play it safe and see what the price of fuel soars to.

ive reached 800k's on my full tank once, on my 2.5 NA. car was babied really bad, trying to save every drop of fuel i can and i was trying to break a record. Most of the driving was on the highway. But normally i usually get around 600k's on a full tank.

I checked in Jan in an 07 2.5i and got down to 7.6L / 100k from Cooma to Sydney.

I wasn't trying to be conservative either - 120 on the speedo (we all know thats only 110).

Reviving an old thread here boys...
12-20 litres per hundred!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF

I have an 05 gt, I don't mind working it pretty hard on a lot of occaisions, and the worst I have ever seen is 14.1- and I don't think that you could drive any harder on the open road without being really silly. Over more than 20,000km the average consumption has been a rock steady 11.2- and that's heaps of hard start city diriving.

This week, I have been trying to see what the car will return if I try a bit to keep it down. 150km of driving- 50km city 100 mwy- it returned 9.6: aircon on - 110kmph plus the usual bit , overtake as required.. etc. Not F*&king around in other words, but not gassing on as hard as normal...

I then filled and drove 21.6 km from the servo home through light city driving spared all horses and came up with 8.4 in stop start... You can have your cake and eat it too if you are prepared for both sets of concequences...

I choose turbo. GT is life...
