Any help with this model?

Postby Booslee » Thu Mar 15, 2012 10:09 pm

Hi all, new to the place, but I've been looking at Libertys for a while now, and came across one on sale near where I live. Having a look at the pictures I noticed the air-con controls aren't electronic like I see on other Libs but old school dials. This is on a 2006 Lib by the way. So I'm just wondering if this is some really basic model, or has the owner done something to it?

I think the basic 2.0r came with just the dials and not climate control. Spend a bit more on a safety pack/luxury/premium :)

Lol yes I agree Rob, a 3.0.. And I disagree with your choice of colour, if I could start all over again I'd be ditching the black

Dunno how to drive manual (whole family only drives auto ) and I think spending that amount of money on a 3.0R-B to learn manual is risky. And that said the auto 3.0Rs are a bit out of my price range (taking into consideration rego, insurance etc)

Hey guys! Hmm... this is a weird one... because my car is a 2.0R with climate control... there must be different variations with the 2.0R... Booslee, that Liberty you were looking at, did it have fog lights and a dual exhaust?

The only thing I can think of between this model and mine.... even though they are called the same... may have a couple of added features. For example, mine is also a 2.0R, but it came with a dual exhaust system, climate control and fog lights.
Below car has been gone for quite some time now... blew bottom end bearing and dealership screwed me! Now driving 2008 WRX with ~65k kms on the clock. Only has cat back exhaust and tune by KiDo at the moment! More to come... but slowly!

Purchased recently (12/11/2013), already with: Stage 2 Pedders lowered springs, rear Whiteline sway bar, Advan Racing TCII 18x8 wheels, k&N pod filter, custom 3" exhaust system from turbo back with Magnaflow mufflers. ECUTEK tune of some sort (hopefully soon to be fixed)..... now FIXED!! Now KiDo Tuned!
Added: HID kit, EZ lip equivalents to the front and sides, and various LED treatments, oem boot spoiler, [LGT WRC] plates, GFB Respons BOV for extra Pssscchhh! --> Gone... I couldn't afford it's heart transplant... but keep a look out, as it will come back on sale soon!

Thanks for all the replies guys, but turns out this car belonged to Adam from this forum! I also coincidentally found his For Sale thread as well, after spotting it on carsales.

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16052

Basically the deal fell through. I was going to buy the car. Despite my first dibs on inspection, and Adam's promise to honor the price as stated in the thread, the car was sold for a bit more an hour before our planned inspection. While in the end he's allowed to sell to the highest offer, I have to admit I'm quite disappointed (to say the least) at how it went down.

Just for future reference.

The model that was for sale was a 2.0i. The 2.0i had single exhaust, no fog lights and no climate control.

The 2.0R had dual exhausts, fog lights, and climate control.

The other difference is that the 2.0i had less power than the 2.5i's whereas the 2.0R's have the same power in kW as the 2.5i's but less torque.

Yeah I noticed it was the most basic model after I asked Adam a few questions -lack of foglights, climate control, as well as a mention of a swapped exhaust system. He did mention he swapped the engine after he blew the first one. Whether or not he kept it back as a 2.0i or went to a 2.0R is unknown however.

Ahhh! Well that has shed light on the matter! Thanks Mihai for the history lesson! :D How much less torque are we talking about?

The 2.5i's have 226Nm @ 4400RPM with 121kW @ 5600RPM
The 2.0R's have 187Nm @ 3200RPM with 121kW @ 6800RPM
The 2.0i's have 187Nm @ 4400 RPM with 101kW @ 5600RPM

The latter 2.5i's (2007 onwards I think) had 127kW @ 6000rpm and 226Nm @ 4400rpm
