I've been considering putting a towbar on my car to tow my dj gear but don't want to cut my bumper :(

Sounds like you should have bought a wagon :P

The installation is quite an easy job, just a bit time consuming cos you dont want to stuff it up/scratch your car. I did the reverse of this when I un-installed mine for sale.

But when you un-install it what do you do about the gap you've cut in your bumper?

Yeah a larger style diffuser would cover the hole on a sedan but the wagon doesn't have a diffuser to suit.

I got the hole plastic welded and the rear bar resprayed which was covered by the money I got from the towbar.

Im currently in the process of fitting a tow bar, right now! but i cant seem to get the bumper to budge! All bolts and clips are removed as per this post, but i cant seem to get it too pop off!! Is there a technique? Or do i just need to give it a harder yank to release the clips??

Got to say well done!

I'd do it myself if I could find a towbar to buy somewhere!

Everywhere I find want to install it themselves as it seems to be the way they make a dollar on it.

Thank you! I got mine from Uhmaers or how ever you spell it! It was $623 plus $11 for the ball and $25 for the plug. They wanted about about $140 for fitting, but obviously i did it myself after reading this thread cos it looked too easy! It was pretty easy but as i said, ive never done anything like this before!

Fitted my towbar last week.

What are people using for the edge trim around the cutout in the bumper ?

Go to Clark's rubber there's heaps of trimming you can choose from, get something that clamps well though
