It takes just one perfect day to do the whole thing.. ie about 26 degrees and no wind.

BUt yeah in my case.. took me days from when I started as I had to counter wind/ rain and crappy summer weather. Not lucky enough to have a spray room or ideal conditions.

another tip. Dont spray too close to the object... the directions on the can are 100% correct for an even coat you do need to be about 20-25cm away from object. Lots of lighter coats works much better than thicker uneven coats.

Also, do use a mask for your face and goggles/glasses for your eyes. a lot of fine particles you do not want in your lungs or eyes.

That looks really really good :D The matt black suits the STI flat black perfectly. I also am not a huge fan of the chrome however I would rather it than an ill-fitting Ebay mesh grill. At the same time I am not sure about painting my stock grill black as the eventual next owner may not like it.

I am looking into using the 3M textured carbon fibre vinyl to wrap the chrome strips only. Similar to what this guy has done but instead of wrapping the main outline of the grill, I only want to wrap the chrome "wings":

This way it's not permanent.

You can check out here Jim.

www.carx.com.au

It's not 3M stickers, but it's similar dry carbon stickers. If you want to, I would like to share half of the stickers.

1.5Mx1.1M around 140-150bucks. We can buy half of that size, because I also like to sticker my interior.

Let me know if you want to Jim. Or if you want the 3M stickers, I also can order it. 1.3Mx1M around 150bucks.

Thanks

The grill looks awesome, totally compliments the lip.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with using plasti-dip instead of paint?
Would the finish be as smooth?

Bought a grill to modify that had been plastidipped, the finish was nowhere near as nice as paint. It had the texture of orange peel. Paint seems to be the way to go.

I just used duplicolor custom wrap spray, which I believe is an equivalent of plastidip. I have to say I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'm a pretty shit painter so did not want to wreck by attempting to paint it myself, this way when I stuff up (which I did) I could just peel it off and start again. It probably isn't as good as a proper paint, but it allowed me to mix things up a bit, with the potential to change it back when I get bored of the look.
