thnx mate.. i did it and left it uncovered.. so looks like ill be spending tomorrow either finding a pipe to run to the front bar or jus duct tape the shit out of it haha
thnx again..

Because I'm lazy.. you wouldn't happen to know the diameter of the hole?

Heres that funnel thing, and heres where to buy it

Thanks Marty I was going to ask you where I could find that.
I might pick one up, couldn't stand knowing I had some dodgy PVC pipe or something in my car....probably a waste of money though.

well the in the process of doing it all now, and the piping that i thought was going to work is to small when connected to the bottom of the airbox, back to the drawing board..
FYI the diameter of the hole at the bottom of the airbox is 73mm ,
but having a closer look at it all now... i cant even see a way to run a pipe to the front bar.. it all seems to be pretty well blocked off inside the wheel arch, unless anyone knows any other ways of doing it???

I could do it on mine if I popped the fog light out but otherwise I don't see it as an easy job to do

sorry to hijack this post smythie, just thought id throw my 2 cents in since this thread is where i learnt about all this :D
what i ended up doing to get a better airflow from where the resonator was... seems to work quite well.

started with..

using some plumbing skills ahaha.. bought some plumbing bits from bunnings, hacksawed a little notch out so it slotted on niceley to where the resonator was, didnt bother glueing the fitting onto the box as that fitting was very tight and wasnt going anywhere.. but with the pipe i just used some pvc plumbing glue, which probaly wasnt even needed but ahh well its not going anywhere either.

as i said in a previous post.. i found a spot in the bottom on the wheel arch that seemed to have quite good airflow coming through from near the bottom of the radiator which i opened up a bit. then angled the piping in that direction.
ive have had the resonator off for the last week (just open hole, no attachment) which i have been enjoying the louder spooling sounds.. now having this little DIY mod it still sounds just as good, but seems to have a better throtle response so IMO i think its doing its job.. plus it only cost me a whole $10 bucks.. cheaper than a pack of cigs :P

I googled this, didn't even read past the first 15 words.
But I'm guessing this has something to do with it...

Just adding to this.

This is going to be the first mod to my RB when it arrives
except for also removing the large chamber directly before the throttle-body.
I see the point in having the chamber there (basically a tank of intake air waiting to be used when you hit the throttle) but it's going to create all kinds of turbulent airflow when you're on steady/ open throttle.

my plan is to use a combination of silicone reducers (expander depending on the airflow direction) and PVC or alloy/ stainless pipe to create an inline "tank" to keep the factory design principle the same, but to improve the flow-performance at the same time
By using less dramatic changes in diameter to keep the airflow path as smooth as possible, this will hopefully lead to a lower restriction in that part of the intake.
Also by removing the convoluted flexi-joints, and replacing with silicone (which is flexible anyway) should also smooth out the airflow in itself.
plus if i get around to using stainless, should provide a little extra bling!

thoughts?
