I'm assuming this is very similar to do on a Gen 3? Karl, i'm looking at you :lol:

You need to undo about 10 screws, but yes. Same spot etc.

Still seems to be going good so far... Wasn't much difference between the original and the cheap one anyway

Did this on the weekend, this write up helped heaps, thanks alot for it!

My filters was yuck! Chucked the new one in and was 10 times better...

The only the i could add the walk through is that on my 2006 3.0r i needed to use a flat head screwdriver for the two clips that hold the glove box in. Was one of those "pop open pull out" clips and also i couldn't get the glove box completely off but this didn't stop me from completing it.

Thanks for the how-to!

Subaru said it would be $100 to supply and change. I got a cheapy off eBay, 15 minutes = done! Very similar to my old BA Falcon to change.

Did 2 gen 4's in 20 mins yesterday, easy as. :D

Good quality new filter from Phat for $60 - $70 I think. Much higher quality than crap genuine part.
