i could make another one, it may take a while cause i would have to order all the harness plugs and they have to come from overseas (usa or maybe japan). i would also have to get you to mail the wiring you have to sydney. ill work out what everything costs and pm you with a price, if you want ????

That's fantastic! - Well done - I have spent a lot of time working on this myself... Lookind forward into getting to understand the detail in your tutorial.

I have a 2006 3.0 spec.B Sat nav system to put into a 2004 JDM 2.0GT spec.B

I have previously installed the screen unit to illuminate and stuff but never got round to finding all the data connections - you have inspired me to give it another go 8)
2.0 GT spec.B BP5 with a few mods...

... And now I will show you the most excellent way... 1 Corinthians 12 v 31.......

Hey mate,

Thanks for the write up. I have a satnav that I bought and have the screen, fascia, disc drive, antenna, two cords

Just need three more cables, Something that I'm not to clever with and happy to pay for the right gear. If you could let me know how much it would be that would be great.

I can send you what I have?

Regards,
Hamish

To manufacture the harness you'll have to post me the CN100 plug and the 16 pin screen cable, i dont need the din cable.

Great write-up, Mitch!

In the last few weeks, two Liberty owners have contacted me wanting to do this mod, hoping I could provide some of the missing harnesses. One of them sent me your PDF, and I finally tracked down where it had been posted so i could contact you (there doesn't seem to be any contact info in the doc itself). I wanted to send you some comments, corrections, and answers to questions you raise.

Unfortunately, I don't have the housings or terminals to build most of the harnesses needed by the nav system. However, there may be one or two that I do. I need to take a closer look at the connectors on the nav unit and screen, and then check parts that I've collected.

In the mean time, here's some other information that should be helpful:

"CN100" is Kenwood's internal name for that 10-pin socket on the back of the DVD unit (as designated in their service manuals). Subaru designates that harness "R226" in US models (possibly the same number in other markets).

That plug is one that Kenwood has used on other of their aftermarket navigation units from around that vintage (~2006), including the KNA-DV2100, KNA-DV3100, KNA-DV3200, and KNA-DV4100. So you might have better luck ordering that as a replacement part from a Kenwood parts source. I'm fairly sure it's this one: http://store.kenwoodusa.com/catalog.php?id=59 (I haven't confirmed, and Kenwood's picture isn't very helpful).

Harnesses like that sometimes turn up on eBay, too.

One thing Mitch mentions in his guide is putting together a 14-pin forward/reverse harness, to tap several of the power leads from the radio harness. For cars without the McIntosh system, a problem with the Metra 70-8901 and similar harnesses is that nobody includes the dimmer/illumination(-) wire (pin #7). I'm the only source making those harnesses that include that wire. Link.

I also build combined forward/reverse harnesses, along the lines of this. That can save a bit of time and effort. For more information, please contact me via e-mail (follow link from the above page, or my homepage http://ae64.com )

I had several other comments/feedback about the PDF, but I'll need to look over that again and then send them directly to Mitch.

Cheers

Basically i have received all the plugs when i purchased it second hand, (I presume you are refering to the 16pin screen cable and the 20 pin Screen - Macintosh cable) i have been asked and started to make the harnesses for two gents on this forum, i will be making an indepth tutorial about modding a metra plug to work for the macintosh stereo.

And definently feel free to PM me about any mistakes, or improvements you may see fit.
