Do you have mp3 files in the root directory? Files in there will come up as cd1, then if you make another 5 folders with files in there, they will come up as cd2-6 on the cf player. Just need to arrange everything correctly.

try hit the mode button on the steering wheel one more time to select the 'cd changer'. the device doesnt override the cd function, it just adds an additional one on top of everything.

Definitely try that and report back!

You might be the first person to try an anycarlink unit in an MY08.

Excellent write up,

Just finished installing the GROM IPD3 unit, which is for the non-mac headunits.
http://www.cushieaudio.com.au/subaru-ipd3.html - express shipped for $14, came the day after it shipped.

Basically the same install, but I routed the cables for the audio lead up and into the top cubby between the vents.

Just expanded one of the existing holes on the top of the unit once I'd pulled it out (comes out fairly easily).

put the unit in the same place as the OP, doesn't move at all, just be careful that the cables don't obstruct the operation of the auto shifter - theres a plate underneath the shifter that moves with the stick, it can get stuck on your cables.

All controls work, playlists can be assigned to discs 1-5 so you don't need to operate the iPod at all.
I also routed the mic for the bluetooth option on the unit up through the A-pillar - fairly easy to do, you don't need to remove the A-pillar trim, just the panel below the steering wheel.

All in all, a much better option than paying $400 for the AV fascia, another $400-500 for a double DIN unit. Sound quality is great, ease of use is great.

based on what is here http://www.gromaudio.com/store/all-sub08.html , the one that you ask about doesn't support Android, nor charges it. Apparently, it has only iPod/iPhone interface for the the respective cables. That unit, or the other ones are looking good, but what's sad that the package doesn't contain the cables, just the box and data cable. If one wants the music to be streamed via bluetooth he has to get the bluetooth dongle which is charged extra, as the other cables as well. and you end up paying 300$ you don't even know how :)

Hi guys

I've got the following model and it is not working for some reason?!

Anycar Link AL-1080A-CLA
Subaru McIntosh USB/SD/AUX Adapter

On the actual box it says Clarion?? :?: :?: :?:
And switch is 1,2 - OFF/3,4 -ON (for Subaru settings are 1,2,3 - OFF and 4 - ON)???
If i have 1,2 OFF/3,4 ON.... AnyLink switches on and CD Charger is ON but there is no SOUND?!
I did connected my phone (HTC One X) over AUX input (3.5 AUX cables) and playing music but there is no sound coming into car stereo (McIntosh Original Unit)???

If i setup 1,2,3 - OFF and 4-ON it is AnyLink box is switched off and no BLUE light on the box and not able to select CD Charger on a HU???????
Please advise?!

Doesn't matter that it says Clarion on the box, as the McIntosh unit has a Clarion connector. (McIntosh were bought by Clarion)

Have you tried pressing the disc button on the head unit again, to cycle from CD to USB to AUX? Not sure if that's how the Anycarlink unit works but I'm sure someone here will know.
