Copied from here for reference

Im no expert and this is the first and only time I have removed the radio. So if anyone knows of any easier way or any handy tips, please correct me. Its a pretty easy removal anyway.
Sorry if the photos arent 100%

First thing to do is pop off the 2 silver trim cover things on either side of the radio. Pry them off gently. This photo shows them at the bottom of the photo. I cant really remember the best way to get them off so just be extra gentle with them. I used plastic trim tools. If you havent got any, a flat head screwdriver with a rag covering the tip so you dont scratch anything should do.

Next for auto (not sure about manual sorry) pry off the circle ring gently

Excuse the hairy leg

You should be able to pop the ash tray out. I pulled GENTLY by the flap. Maybe not the best idea but just be Careful not to break it. If you can figure an easier and safer way then do it. There are tabs which keep it in place so be careful not to break these. You will have to unclip the cables for the light and 12v plug. These can be a bit tricky I found. Just use something to poke the clip and push it in, then pull out the plug.

Undo all the screws I think 6 from memory, some are easy to get to some are a bit harder. Try use a magnetic screwdriver if you have one to minimize the risk of screws falling and being lost.

You will have to unplug the hazard light switch now. The unit will probably not come out any further than shown in the photo below unless it is unplugged

The xcarlink should be plugged in on the right hand side (if looking at the unit from behind) you can see where it plugs in at the top centre of this photo

Hope this helps. Sorry if it doesnt.... You will have to figure out the rest because my HU didnt like the xcarlink. There is plenty of room behind there to mount/store the box for the device I think. Running the cable to wherever you want it to be will probably be another challenge. Perhaps you could post up some photos for others once you are done?

Cheers

Same process for my non Mac system. Same number of screws and trim piece removal on either side of the radio is the same

With the manual transmission the knob unscrews. The silver ring unclips and the whole gear boot can be removed. There are two lugs on the silver gear boot ring that click under the ashtray console. So I just lift it up and then back.

Noob question - how do you get the hazard light cable out?

There is a little white tab on the loom that you need to push in and it should just slide right out.

Just keep trying, it should pull off after you move the tab.

I followed this with success. Thanks !

Great pics explaining the process.

We have a Parrot CK3000 Bluetooth unit mounted on our dash and I need to update it's firmware. Where would the blue box sit behind the dash?

Would rather have an idea before I go pulling everything apart.

Thanks in advance.
