Is the $40 motor a direct replacement though? Or do you need to swap over shafts?

I'm putting the car up for sale soon so I'm trying to avoid too much mucking around, if I can get something like that assembly from the US I can just do a straight change over and have it sorted.

just noticed my right rear door not opening and closing properly now either, im curious if the mechanism is the same for all doors as i bought a crashed legacy for the engine for my rebuild and just my luck i already sold the right rear motor to a guy locally that has same issue, so i was going to swap in the front drivers side door mechanism if its the same as the rear, just thought i would check here if anyone knows before i go ripping it out

The shafts on the eBay motors are shorter, so you would still need to swap out the armatures. The Subaru motors also have a D shape end so the worm drive will stick and lock in.

I'd imagine that the whole door lock assembly would be a different shape due to the difference in shape of the door in the particular location. Does the rear door latch locate a lot higher than the front?

I think they're the same for the same side of the car, the two lefts are the same and the two rights are the same.

drivers door is different as it has the key lock too. Both passengers are the same.

If you need I can fix one of my spare right hand rears and post it to you.

OK i ended up searching around all the Subaru spare parts sites that legacygt.com reccomends, best price with shipping I found was $64.78 + $28.80 shipping, less than AUD$150 for two.

If anyone knows, could they confirm if this part is the whole actuator (the white box containing the motor).

It's located at https://www.subaruonlineparts.com/oempartscat.html - Parts -> Subaru -> 2005 -> Legacy -> Rear Door -> Lock and hardware -> Actuator ->

Actuator, Actuator Left
ACTUATOR AY DR LNM

Just don't want to purchase it if it ends up being the wrong thing...

It only comes as an actuator assy as its a non serviceable item at Subaru.

So by that do you mean it just comes as a sealed unit, like this one? (large circle)

Getting myself a little confused at the moment..

In the US of A they are left hand drive vehicles.. Does that make the actuator any different? I can't recall seeing any major differences between mine when I had them out to repair (besides the obvious L/R orientation)

Us ones would be the same, their LHF is drivers door, it would be same to our LHF passenger door.
