i had a go at this after work the other day, its a piece of cake.

it took less then an hour, including going down the street to get some new superglue.

great DIY

HoFF, I originally used super glue & had to re do it as the super glue popped open.. I used kwikgrip the second time around

yeh mate thats the same stuff i used, its all superglue to me.

if this comes apart ill be using silicon lol but i think it will hold

Key is to properly clean mating surfaces and use clamps to hold together whilst curing.

I used superglue and ziptied them together. Haven't had the trims off to cut the zipties yet.

Drivers side door? The key lock part??

It disconnects from the key lock in the same way that the one connected to the handle disconnects. There is a plastic clip right up the top where it connects to the key lock mechanism.

Yea it's hard to get your hands in there too. There is a hole in the inner skin up the top where you can point a torch through to see what's going on

Did you push the actuator back into its housing properly? I had an issue like that where it wasn't touching the contacts.

It could be, I'll open it up on Saturday again and check. I've actually got two doors on the same side not unlocking (via remote) so I'm wondering if it could be another problem.

Are there Subaru wreckers around that might have the whole assembly available?

Subarugenuineparts.com sell this

Lock assy, Power Left
LATCH/ACT AY DR F LH
List Price : $98.08
Your Price : $74.74

Or this... http://www.trademotion.com/parts/2006/S ... 20ACTUATOR

What does this part actually include? Would it be the right part to just replace the whole thing with a new one?

Probably end up under $200 for two brand new ones shipped from the US.

I'll jump on their website tomorrow sometime and have a look at their illustrations. In Australia, you'd expect to pay over $200 for one. I'll let you know what I think.

My only concern with getting one from a wrecker would be that you eventually run into the same issue where it will stop because of dirt & grit

You can get a replacement moor for like $40 off eBay then just replace the one in your actuator assembly.
