Subaru Factory Sat Nav Tutorial

Hey, been looking into the plugs Kenwood have used for the screen, and seeing as a couple of people have not received these when buying a screen means we need to find out what they are, so they can purchase them. From what i have found they have been made by tyco electronics, and are part of the MultiLock Range. so what do you think, does this receptacle look like the one on the rear of the screen, http://www.te.com/catalog/pn/en/2-178460-2, (Open the 3D model),
to sum it up into part numbers

Receptacle : 2-178460-2 (http://www.te.com/catalog/pn/en/2-178460-2)
16 pin plug: 174147-2 (http://www.te.com/catalog/pn/en/174147-2)
20 pin plug: 174047-2 (http://www.te.com/catalog/pn/en/174047-2)
and therefore the pins required would be
16 pin pins: 173708-1
20 pin pins: 173681-1

what do you think ?

I have 3 Sat Nav Plug Sets left (1x16 pin plugs and 2x20 pin plugs plus the required pins). Pm your me if interested.

Does anyone know if the 20 pin plug at the back of the Screen should run directly to the 20 pin plug at the back of the Mcintosh?

Still would like to know if the 20 pin at the back of the screen runs directly to a 20 pin at the back of the HU. Anyone?

Hello all,

I am attempting to do the OEM sat nav transplant but have come up stuck on a few points. Firstly, the unit I have did not come with any of the required wiring harnesses. So far I have been able to locate most of the parts required through this thread but unfortunately can't find much information on the 20pin mcintosh plug. Is this the same 20 pin plug that connects to the back of the screen or is it different? If so, does anyone know where I can get one from?
Secondly, all the connections required are quite well explained except I cannot work out the CAN-BUS connection. Where do these two wires come from exactly?
I am just trying to get as much sorted out as I can prior to pulling the dash apart so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, I have sucessfully installed a second hand sat nav in my Gen4 Liberty GT-B.
I had difficulty getting infomation, so i made a tutorial to assist anyone attempting this.

The main question would be. Will the sat nav power up without the original radio in the car

I believe it will power up, but getting the nav audio to play on the aftermarket head unit is tricky, the subject of a massive thread on lgt forum, where eventually the mystery was solved.
