A great day it was, excepting my possible donation to the policeman's ball.

I have had a number of pm's and emails asking what happened to GTB STI and what did I replace it with. Well here goes boys.

MY10 Forester XTP with some mods now completed. I have a set of black MY08 STI brembos which are going on this week and I have in my possession a new rom file which is still to be flashed to the stock ecu. Also new Subaru front lip and mesh grill still to be painted and installed but here are the pics of how it looks now.

The Foresters are getting bigger and bigger every year aren't they? I saw an MY10 on the track I swear it was about to tip over and/or eat the wildlife/other Foresters

Yep no question its a different car to the gen IV Libs but we needed a bigger baby mover and its filled the bill quite nicely. Running much bigger rims (18 x 8.5 48 offset) than stock (17 x 7 48 offset) really makes it feel and drive differently though. HSD HR coilovers are very good mod and fit perfectly.

true it would be cool to have a 5MT version but the 0-60 to and from work or the shops means gear changes are seldom

Nice Foz. How does it compare to the TBSTI?

well they are both Subaru's LOL

The Foz weighs more and is currently no where near as torquee as the Lib so obviously no where near as quick. In terms of braking it is no where near the Lib but that will change once I bolt on the brembos. Handling wise its a bit closer to the Lib now with the coilovers and RSB mods added. Very direct feel to the road obviously and the power it does have is very direct now as well. I am getting ready to flash the ecu with a new tune and that should unleash some low to mid range torque as well as reduce the lag associated with the DBW throttle. The built in bluetooth and gps are nice additions that the Lib lacked but the stereo on the Foz is not as good as the Macintosh that came with the Lib. Styling wise inside its very similar to the Lib, ie same plastic materials used. Seats are similar in feel as well. More space obviously and very easy to fold seats down in the back and chuck lots of big stuff in which is a nice feature. Under the bonnet it looks exactly like the stock version of the TBSTI Lib without the name plate and number. The exhaust and muffler set up much the same, restrictive as hell. Same mufflers used in both stock formats...crap. Fixed that easily enough.

Funnily enough the Lib vf46 would be a cheap bolt-on upgrade to the Foz TD04. Depending on how far you want to go with the power of course.

My previous ride was a Foz XT, so I think they are pretty cool.

Are you on OzFoz by any chance??

Nice Brembos. Where did you source the Black STI ones from? Rexnet?

Nope sourced them from a bloke on perth-wrx who was parting out a damaged MY08 WRX STI. He was going to build a gravel pig and needed to run 15"speedline rims and mini brakes so the brembos were not needed.
