My lunch time cruise

Got the urge to go for a drive at lunch today. Awesome sunny clear day. Went up and down Brindabella road then out to Tharwa via the tracking station (local Canberra guys will know this route well). Only had one other car on the road the entire way around and got past them with no issues.

Stopped at the scenic look out on the way to Tharwa. Only had phone camera on me hence the poor quality pictures.

It's fantastic having awesome country driving roads only 15 minutes from work.

Nice.

I had to drive up to Muswellbrook for work this morning. What a terrible shame the shortest route for me was up Putty Rd :D

The nightmare was getting home and realising I'm not doing it again tomorrow :(

The nightmare for me was getting home and realising the front of my car had turned yellow thanks to squashing a stack of grasshoppers! LOL !

I might have to do it again but take my camera with me so I can get some nicer pictures. Don't worry |Tan, I will post them up too. Ha ha.

I hit what must have been dragonflies on the way back from Shepparton on the w/e. Front of car looked like I'd been hit by paintballs. Not only did they splat their guts but they chip the paint too.

Good god - I knew wombats have an arse like a T1000, I didn't realise dragonflys do too!

Thanks mate, I only got the wheels a few weeks back. They've really transformed the look of the car. I'm very happy with them.

Tek - When I stopped at the 'Tharwa shop' picture I picked about 4 whole grasshoppers (the big suckers) out of the mesh and picked off at least another dozen limbs from the licence plate and other areas. All I could thinnk of at the time was paintball as well. Ha ha ha. The other strange thing about that was the lack of bug splatters on the windscreen.

If you ever come to Canberra you have to drive the Brindabella road (or whole Cotter loop). It's not the longest road but it has some seriously awesome sweeping bends on it and at the end a nice straight you can open up on (then turn around and do it in reverse!). The road to the Tidbinbilla tracking station is also awesome, the tarmac on the road has been unchanged for as long as I have been driving. Only today I noticed two small patches. On it your car just seems to stick, some sort of strange NASA compound so the conspiracy theory goes.

I'm really tempted to do it all again tomorrow, breaks up the day a bit better than a walk around the building and takes just as long too.

That was just over an hour. 15 mins from work to the start of the drive - then a spirited run up to the lookout an even more spirited run to the shop where I stopped for a can of coke and then a reasonably hectic drive back to work. I have fairly flexible work arrangements. If I have a longer lunch break then I just stay back a little later, as long as I don't have any meetings and someone knows I will be off site then all is good. Most of the time I am in before my boss and leave later so they have to have some give and take.

Today I ate a sandwich at my desk while I worked through - what joy that was!
