detail at Final Inspection

Postby zero1 » Wed Nov 11, 2009 12:17 am

Bit the bullet a couple of weeks ago and got a Stage 2 detail at FI. being a second hand car, paint wasn't in good nick when i bought it. Paint turned out a real treat. Special cheers to Damien down at FI for the job.

Whole Car before;

Front Fenders - swirls galore

Bonnet - again heavy swirls and watermarks

Boot lid - probabily the worst in terms of swirls and scratches, being a flat surface and reflecting scratches very easily

Loving the car now, after a few tips bout cleaning and sealing, im not gonna let it get back to what it was before :D

you can contact Damien on finalinspection.com.au.

the cost for the detailing jobs are layed out on the website. This job was a stage 2 which cost $320 which is well worth it. Service is excellent and I would highly recommended it.

Great results! Looks like the previous owner must have regularly used the horsehair brushes at the carwash or went through automated machines, to get it swirled up so bad.

Just make sure you maintain it now, by hand washing. Avoid the use of foam sponges (always use microfibre mitts with thick, textured piles), and never use chamois to dry the car whether they are the synthetic type or even pure leather. Use microfibre cloths with textures such as with a deep waffle pattern as they won't drag debris around and scratch your paint back up.

It would be nice to be able to get such results like this at home but the amount of equipment and all different cutting compounds far exceeds any cost saving long term (since you shouldn't need to restore the paint like this all that often as long as you look after it).

man.. what the hell was yoru previous owner doing to the car? using grade sandpaper? hehehe

Car looks STUNNING! well worth it to get it fixed up and treated. Looks amazing mate! Now.. trying to maintain it will be test. Regular washes should do the trick. I'm amazed at how dirty your car gets within a week of driving (moreso since wash/clay/polish/seal) ... especially if not garaged.

believe it or not, the previous owner was the Victorian police, picked it up at a government auction.

nice job Phuonga!

nice sealant that u used which completely took off the swirl marks. when i got mine the rear boot surface had a lot of swirl marks tooo so i had to do it myself to clean and polish it. bare in mind i bought the car brand new and they gave me a shit protection....

very disappointed when i got mine 2 years ago.

anyway good job bro! :D
Cheers,

Julz

Looking good. :)

On a side note, what on earth did the previous owner use to wash the car? Sandpaper??

I think I fell in the trap of washing it with the brush at the car washes!

I was under the impression that those brushes are better than the automatics! so I just rinsed it and made sure they had no hard particles in it and then washed with that!

guess I just wrecked my clearcoat badddd
