I just bought an 85mm f/1.2L... I'm so broke

I was gonna get into it but the allocated funding was distributed elsewhere (quad tips + a new guitar)
lol

You are correct

Is photography easy to pick up? I saw Trieu in action with the infra-red flashes and exposure etc it all seems a little overwhelming. Very interesting though, and I'm sure I will pick it up sometime in the future.. Not to mention its a very expensive hobby.

practice makes improvement :P

And yes, very expensive. The new lens I impulse bought last night was $2300...

Perhaps, some part of it :)

I also should have taken the BOV off my car last night. My dad's going to be driving the Lib today, he'll probably be going WTF at the BOV going off, haha.

Dayum, got short DOF? I'd love to see some shots taken with that lens.

85mm should make it perfect for pics of cars, you could get into car photography!! :ninja:

But yeah I do enjoy a bit of photography, I'm very much an amateur but every now and then I manage to fluke a half-decent pic. I'd love to put some more time into it but work gets in the way!

I already do :P

though I wouldn't be using the 85mm for car photos that often. MFD of 95cm is a bit inhibiting and restrictive.

Heh I've seen plenty of your work floating around on these forums, my comment was a little tongue-in-cheek :P MFD = ??

I was sort of thinking 85mm might be good moving shots rather than statics, even my 50mm is a pain for static shots. Dunno, just guessing really - as I said, I'm certainly no professional

I'd love to be able to take shots like those, mine are extremely average in comparison! Oh btw the white 32 in the first pic lives a matter of minutes from my place, haha

Been interested in photography for a few years now. Finally got around to getting myself something better than a phone camera a couple of months ago (Canon G10). Think I have just about hit the limits of the camera already - a few times I've thought "gee I wouldn't mind a better sensor and lens right about now"

Still, it is an ace unit for work and stuffing in the briefcase (the main reason I went with it rather than a D60 or 450/500D) and some novice creative shots.

The G10 is a great camera. I had a G9, I didn't use it enough so I sold it. Sometimes I miss it...

I've got a mate who works for CPS in North Ryde (he's not a ranga though  ). Small world :D

On the G10, I almost got a Panasonic LX3 unfortunately the shop wasn't interested in matching the price of the G10 (about $70 or $80 from memory). G10 felt better in the hand too but pretty much every review I have read indicates the LX3 takes better piccies. Maybe I should have shelled out that bit extra....
