Hi All

Today I went to a Porsche Club track day at Oran Park :D

My old man wanted me to have some track instruction before hitting the track in WASABI... Let me tell you it was the best experience I've ever had behind the wheel.

Here's a few happy snaps that I took...

Weather was pretty ordinary for the morning:

Didn't look like the R Specs or slicks would be getting used - Thank god it dried up for the afternoon sessions:

Front brakes of a Cayen Turbo S:

& I wasn't the only Liberty Wagon there :D :

As you would expect at a Porsche function... Lunch was catered:

& this was my baby for the day (With track rims & R Spec tyres):

Here's a few shots of cars on the track (Sadly my photography skills were limited to what the old N96 could do)... These cares were doing approx 200km/h & braking real hard to take the first bend:

& just for shits & gigs, here's a few of the tyres that were around the place:

Was an awesome day & I can't wait to do something similar again :D

On a side note, it is sad that this may be one of the last track days at Oran Park... It's a great track & it will be missed.

Cheers
Matt

i think you've done pretty well with a phone camera mate!
my one experience with oran park is one i'll never forget...
i went out with mates to go-cart and it had at late notice been cancelled due to a V8 supercar team practice or something. they felt bad and asked if we'd like to watch...... HELL YESSS i think might have been the reply. so just up from where that first XXXX sign is in your pics is where i spent 2 or so blissful hours wathching a car just before braking at the end of the straight about 6 feet from me doing around 260km/h.
the fact that you got to drive it....AWESOME!!!!!!!

The black 3.0RB Wagon belongs to the Porsche service manager :)

 The club shirt always makes an appearance at Porsche days :P It's actually amazing how many Porsche drivers have come from Subarus... Mainly WRX's & Foresters...

The driving instructors on the day were pretty impressed by the old WASABI. So I was pretty happy with that.

Sadly WASABI didn't see the track as only Porsche's were allowed on & they were pretty strict about it keep that way :(

 I'm no Stig :P But towards the end of the day I was catching some GT3 drivers in the corners... Just couldn't get near them in the straight :P

For info... Fastest speed of the day down the straight was 230km/h (GT2)... I got to 202km/h (C4S) :D So I was happy with that.

I honestly think that it's a real shame that they are tearing down that track... It's a great track with a bit of everything... & as Smythie rightly pointed out, it's a great track for bikes (So I heard on more then one occation).

It'll be around to the end of the year if the planned race meet for October or November I have heard about is still on...
